Tribute Cross by LittleOddawa Tribute Cross by LittleOddawa
Here's the cross fox I did for my grandfather's memorial.
I carved the form myself and this was one of the fastest foxes I have done and even sewed it up on the way up there.
I do have more pictures if I can get to them, they are on another camera.

If you are interested in commissions, please note me :)
This is a taxidermy piece and is not a live animal.

I know I am a bit late to the field, but I think you need more positive feedback on this. This is HONORABLE. You took one of your grandfather's skins (an animal that probably saw the end of it's life long ago, NOT from a farm, but from honorable hunting - real hunting), and you turned it into a piece of art for his memorial. That's amazing, and really sweet. :claps:

Kudos to you, hun!

I feel bad for the poor fox, but nevertheless, you've got good skill. He looks . . . nice. :]

I do wonder what would happen if I stuffed a baby, though . . .

I don't get why people are mad. I mean you made it for your grandpa right? who passed away. and if I didn't hear correctly didn't you say it was one of his pelts? they act like you just randomly made a dead guy a fox (that was tortured and beaten and skinned alive) and put it in the grave with him. anyway, he's very pretty, I'm sure your gramps would be honored to have such a beautiful fox such as this.

Lovely! I'm very sorry about your grandfather's passing, but this is a lovely way to honor his memory. I'm sorry other people jump to conclusions about your taxidermy. :(

One day, I'd love to commission you! You really do a lovely job.

I can understand that some people find it immoral, but there's no need to be hostile towards taxidermists. It's best for them to calmly speak out against it in their own joural or someplace else.

And you're welcome, I enjoyed looking through your gallery. :)

Haha, the death threats get pretty old
When you threaten them with legal action they back off though

Who says animals fear death? That they stop and think, oh noes, I really don't want to be killed today. How about I go loathe the human for doing what is natural in being higher in the food chain?

what the fuck is wrong with you, this was part of a memorial for a loved one that died. Have some respect you horrible little child. If you're against taxidermy, do it in your own journal. DO NOT go hurting someone who just lost a family member.

have some respect for a feeling human being who just lost a family member. and you know what, when I die I could care less what someone does with this lifeless vessel.

I'm a part of the save the wolves foundation, have you done anything useful with yourself? I bet not. Just hurting people for the fun of it. Those of us who "REALLY" care actually DO something about it in the real world instead of acting like a mindless angry mob.

Don't worry, I'm on ur side. I don't think what that person did was right either.
I understand that it was a memorial but still. Just because a family member died, it doesn't give them the right to take another living creatures life for it.
Why would you take a creatures life for someone who won't be able to be proud of it or appreciate it?

Do not make accusationsat me for something you know nothing about.
This animal was not killed for taxidermy
It was a skin my grandfather got recently and he walked on before I could mount it for him
It would have been his Christmasgift.
This mount was taken to the tribal church and every other native american appreciated it. The pelt was a piece of him he left behind. He's with the sky now but it is a tribute to him.

Of course, self-righteous people like this always know everything about everything. Well I guess this kind of hateful comments were to expect with the recent campaign against taxidermy we've seen here on dA. Kinda sad.
